Understanding and Improving Concepts of Resiliency to Extreme Events

As we work to maintain and improve our infrastructure, we are confronted with both increased resource constraints and reduced predictability of in-service conditions. There are many aspects of infrastructure resiliency which need to be addressed moving forward, and resiliency is beginning to receive more of the attention needed to improve outcomes. In this webinar, we will focus specifically on resiliency to extreme events. While this is only one aspect of the overall problem, it is one of the most critical, and can improve our understanding of the overall problem.

We will look at fundamental concepts of resiliency to extreme events and discuss principles for developing improved solutions, including:

-How risk impacts decisions which affect resiliency -Management and policy implications of our approach to managing risk -Examples illustrating how these principles can result in improved resiliency and therefore better outcomes for society.
