Bixby Residential Development

During roadway construction in a residential development, the contractor encountered weak subgrade conditions that caused the proofroll to fail. The unstable section prevented asphalt placement, creating schedule delays and requiring an effective stabilization solution.

Tensar assessed the affected roadway and conducted DCP testing to identify the subgrade conditions contributing to the failure, collaborating closely with AIMRIGHT Testing & Engineering throughout the evaluation. Based on field observations, Tensar recommended installing a single layer of Tensar InterAx NX850 geogrid topped with twelve inches of aggregate over a prepared roadway surface.

The stabilized section increased confinement and bearing capacity, creating a stable construction platform that allowed the contractor to achieve a passing proofroll prior to paving. This approach eliminated the need for excavation, reduced aggregate requirements, and delivered substantial cost and schedule savings.
