When spring rains move in and grounds begin to thaw as temperatures start to rise from their winter lows, construction sites can encounter very poor conditions for site work. High moisture levels, especially in cohesive soils, can make ordinary earthwork difficult or impossible. Access roads, general grading, working surfaces, pavement foundations, and similar tasks take more time, use more materials, and negatively impact construction schedules. These problems often compound as the job progresses because sitework happens early in the project.
