Foundations
Developers, engineers and contractors know: building reliable foundations over poor soils can be expensive, time-consuming, labor-intensive, difficult to stage, and environmentally challenging.
Tensar International offers two innovative foundation construction and improvement systems as alternatives to conventional techniques. Both incorporate
Tensar® Geogrids to create stiffened platforms that distribute loads more efficiently over underlying soils, increasing their effective bearing capacity and decreasing differential settlement. The result: foundations where structural integrity is enhanced, construction schedules are reduced and project costs are lowered.
The
Prism® Foundation Improvement System is used for the construction of embankments, bridge approach fills, causeways, levees and dikes over weak soils, including wetlands. The Prism System consists of a composite structure which creates a reliable embankment foundation with significant cost advantages. The system reduces construction footprint, differential settlement potential and fill requirements.
