Tensar InterAx™ geogrid design saves on costs and increases pavement performance for parking and driveway construction

During the construction of a new parking lot and driveway, weak, unstable soils with very low shear strength were encountered. Bad weather caused water to accumulate across the site, which saturated the subgrade. The site was already at the elevation grade for the aggregate road base, so the client didn't want to excavate and did not have a lot of room to use a thick section of aggregate.
Tensar analyzed the existing pavement section to calculate planned design life. Ultimately the client decided on a stabilization solution using Tensar's advanced InterAx NX850 geogrid. The InterAx geogrid design increased pavement performance while saving on cost of removal/replacement. It also proved to be much faster and cost effective compared to chemical stabilization.
