IMAGINE Better Transportation Infrastructure

by Mike Lawrence, on August 10, 2018

One way to accelerate improvement in America’s transportation infrastructure is to apply proven innovations that are available right now to improve the quality, cost and longevity of roads. Unfortunately, too many DOTs and contractors are hindered by requirements that, while intended to ensure competition, are limiting these entities from utilizing new and innovative technologies.

That’s why Tensar has been actively championing legislation - that has now been officially proposed – which promotes the usage of proven innovations like Geogrid to improve America’s transportation infrastructure. Tensar applauds the bipartisan legislators - Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Mike Rounds (R-SD), and Cory Booker (D-NJ) – who have introduced The Innovative Materials for America’s Growth and Infrastructure Newly Expanded (IMAGINE) Act.

The anticipated passage of the IMAGINE Act should result in a modernization of standards and methods used to assess the federal government’s approval of materials for infrastructure projects. It will also promote research into new materials and building techniques. And it will spur federal investment in vital transportation infrastructure projects.

We stand ready to join forces with any DOT or road/highway contractor who has not already adopted a full range of efficiency-driving innovations – like those that have arisen from ongoing geosynthetics research – to do more with what we have, and to improve our Country’s infrastructure immediately. American ingenuity is still in position to save the day.
