A durable, protective system that could be installed quickly, working only within 1.5 hours each side of low tide.
Wollongong harbour foreshore is a beautiful piece of coast south of Sydney that had been damaged by frequent storms that were eroding away the park area. As part of the rejuvenation of the Wollongong City area, the local authority wanted to restore this area to a showpiece of the city.
The first part of the restoration was to stop the erosion that had occurred opposite the harbour entry due to wave action. Previous attempts with metal mattresses had not provided sufficient life, so an alternative was sought. After evaluation of all possibilities, the Tensar Triton™ polymeric mattress system which can be prefabricated was chosen as the most durable and cost effective solution.
