The client Port of Townsville wanted to develop this 15-hectare laydown area over reclaimed marine land, to support transportation of wind turbines. With a limited budget, the Port wanted to use as much existing rock as possible to build a stable platform on this variable, weak subgrade.
The consultant, Civil IQ specified both NXL and TX190L to support the re-use of existing 150mm, 75mm and 45mm minus rock as fill material. This approach saved the Port tens of millions of dollars in aggregate procurement and cartage costs across the entire projects.
