TriAx Geogrid’s near isotropic stiffness characteristics support its improved performance in trafficked applications compared to Tensar^® Biaxial (BX) Geogrids. These characteristics are ideal for improving the service life of paved and unpaved surfaces while further reducing excavation and pavement component thickness requirements.

Our material specifications provide the distinct properties of TriAx Geogrids to support public agencies, private organizations and institutions that require “material-only” specifications for the geosynthetic stabilization of roadways. The individual properties featured do not govern the performance of the TriAx Geogrid or the application. Rather, they serve as project-specific, quality control indices for the specifying party to validate upon receipt of material.

TriAx® geogrid and the use thereof are protected by U.S. Patent No. 7,001,112.

Global Award-Winning Success

As one of civil engineering’s most prestigious awards, the IGS Award is presented every two years for contributions made to the scientific and engineering development of geotextiles, geomembranes, related products and associated technologies. Entries are submitted from a wide field of categories including construction methods, products and testing equipment. The winner is selected based on achievement in the period since 2005.

The IGS 2010 Award was presented to Tensar International for the development and implementation of TriAx^® Geogrid. The presentation was held at the 9th ICG in Brazil in conjunction with the IGS General Assembly.

TriAx Geogrid received two European awards just six months after the product was introduced into the European marketplace. Gold medals were awarded at the 2008 Brno International Building Fair – Central Europe’s largest building fair, hosted in the Czech Republic – as well as the 15th International Fair of Road Construction Industry AUTOSTRADA-POLSKA 2008 in Kiecle, Poland. Of the 800 exhibiting companies and eight award winners, TriAx Geogrid was the only geosynthetic product to receive recognition within the coveted “Product & Technology” category.

Tensar International’s Technical Expertise

For more than three decades, Tensar International has invested in research and testing for all of our products and systems so that we can provide proof of performance to the design and contracting communities. The same holds true for TriAx® Geogrid. A number of full and small-scale studies to quantify its features and benefits have been undertaken by independent researchers including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, UK Transport Research Laboratory, Itasca Consulting Group, Inc. and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. We continue to invest each year in additional performance validation testing and related research.
