SpectraPave™ Software
SpectraPave Software is an interactive design analysis tool that incorporates the state-of-practice design methodologies for both flexible pavements and unpaved roads. The programs feature two primary analysis tools for evaluating and quantifying the benefits of Tensar® Biaxial (BX) Geogrid for both paved (flexible pavements) and unpaved surfaces (haul roads and working surfaces).
SpectraPave3 Software, released in September 2007, incorporates the findings of recent full-scale research conducted by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This advancement in technology led to the development of the mechanistically-based Advanced Base Reinforcement Module.
Both program versions will enable you to utilize the Spectra System to improve your pavement designs by simplifying construction, reducing material requirements and costs, and extending service life, thus reducing life-cycle costs.

SpectraPave3 Software offers three distinct analysis modules: Subgrade Improvement, Standard Base Reinforcement and Advanced Base Reinforcement. The Subgrade Improvement module, originally released with SpectraPave2 Software, is still featured in its entirety. The Standard Base Reinforcement module uses the traffic benefit ratio (TBR) to develop geogrid-reinforced designs as recommended by AASHTO '93. The Advanced Base Reinforcement module uses TBR in combination with enhanced layer coefficients to explain how geogrids contribute to stiffness enhancement through a phenomenon known as residual stress. This is a reflection of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Mechanistic-Empirical (M-E) design research.

SpectraPave2 Software (Version 2.17) features both the Subgrade Improvement module and the Standard Base Reinforcement module shown in SpectraPave3 Software. The Subgrade Improvement module incorporates the performance-based Giroud-Han Design Methodology for unpaved surfaces. The module predicts the required thickness for an unreinforced and geogrid-reinforced granular subbase over weak subgrade conditions. A cost analysis module quanitifies the potential savings associated with these two scenarios. Designers and contractors can perform a subgrade separation check to ensure proper separation of subgrade soils and fill soils.
